What CloudZero does
CloudZero’s homepage headline is “Every AI dollar. Every outcome. Connected.”, and it calls itself “the AI ROI Company”. It describes itself as a financial control plane that gives finance, IT and engineering a shared system for spend, value and outcomes. It brings in cost and usage from AI platforms, cloud providers and SaaS tools, and maps that spend to products, teams and customers. That lets you see figures such as the cost to serve each customer, and which accounts drive or erode margin.
Its optimization product, CloudZero Optimize, uses the line “Stop recommending. Start saving.” It ranks savings opportunities by dollar impact on the business dimensions you care about, draws on a library of optimizations for multi-cloud spend, and sends recommendations into Jira and Slack with an owner on every item. Through its MCP server and pre-built skills, AI agents can also pick up and route these opportunities.
CloudZero sells one subscription with every capability included: unlimited cost sources, users, dimensions and dashboards, hourly cost granularity, anomaly detection, budgets and forecasts, optimization recommendations, and MCP integration. The price is quoted per customer, based on the scale and complexity of your environment. It is not published.
What CloudFix does
CloudFix is built only for AWS. It connects in about 5 minutes with read-only IAM roles deployed through CloudFormation, and 110+ finders scan 30+ AWS services. Results are typically ready within 24 hours.
CloudFix goes past routing a recommendation to someone. 53 findings have automated fixers, including retyping EBS gp2 volumes to gp3, enabling S3 Intelligent-Tiering, setting CloudWatch log retention, removing idle NAT Gateways and moving DynamoDB tables to Infrequent Access. Each fix runs as an AWS Systems Manager Automation runbook in your account, and nothing runs until you approve it. CloudFix customers typically see 15–60% savings on each AWS service optimized, which adds up to 20–35% off the total bill.
When to choose CloudZero
- You need to allocate cloud and AI spend to products, teams, features or customers, including costs that are hard to tag.
- Finance wants unit economics such as cost per customer or per transaction, and gross margin views.
- Your spend is spread across several clouds, Kubernetes, SaaS and AI providers.
- You want recommendations ranked by business impact and routed to the owners who should act on them.
When to choose CloudFix
- The recommendations are clear, but nobody has time to carry them out.
- Most of your spend is on AWS, and you want fixes across services such as EBS, S3, CloudWatch, VPC, DynamoDB and OpenSearch.
- You want every change approved by a person and run as a Systems Manager runbook in your account.
- You want a published price: free assessment, paid plans from $149/month, billed through AWS Marketplace.
Using them together
CloudZero and CloudFix cover different steps. CloudZero shows which products, teams and customers drive your AWS costs, and which opportunities matter most to the business. CloudFix then applies the AWS fixes behind those opportunities, with your approval, and the savings show up in CloudZero’s allocation and unit-cost reports.
If commitments are part of your plan, CloudFix’s RightSpend covers the EC2 rate side without a 1- or 3-year commitment.
