RightSpend

Commitment-Free Discounts on EC2

Get 20–55% off EC2. No commitment. No lock-in. RightSpend gives you Commitment-Free Discounts: the discount of a long-term Reserved Instance without signing the long-term commitment. It covers the EC2 usage your own Reserved Instances and Savings Plans don’t, adjusts every hour as your usage moves, and runs alongside what you already have.

Setup takes about 5 minutes, and savings typically show up within 24 hours.

Why teams choose it

Discounts that move when your usage does.

  • Works with CloudFix

Resize or remove anything. Coverage follows.

RightSpend doesn’t lock you into particular instance types or families. When CloudFix recommends resizing an instance, or dropping it altogether, RightSpend drops that coverage to make room. The two products work together, so cutting usage never strands a commitment.

  • No lock-in

Nothing to sign for 1 or 3 years.

Coverage adjusts every hour as your usage moves. If you leave, the short-dated rungs expire and you’re back on on-demand.

  • Fair fee

    Pay only on net-new savings.

The fee is 25% of the net-new savings RightSpend generates. You keep 75%, and the savings you already had cost nothing.

How the fee works

RightSpend’s fee is 25% of the net-new savings it generates. You keep 75%, and savings you already had from your own RIs and Savings Plans cost nothing.

  • Already yours: $0 fee. Savings from your own Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
  • You keep 75% of the net-new savings RightSpend generates.
  • Fee: 25% of the net-new savings. No net-new savings, no fee.

Illustrative. Segment widths show the split, not your numbers.

The arithmetic: if RightSpend saves you $10,000 in a month on top of the savings you already had, the fee is $2,500 and you keep $7,500.

The fee is ongoing and scales with your EC2 use. It is a share of the savings RightSpend generates each month, so when your EC2 spend grows, the savings and the fee grow together, and when it shrinks, both shrink with it. You never pay a fee on savings that don’t happen. The fee is billed monthly through AWS Marketplace.

When your usage drops

This is the real risk in any discount commitment. A 3-year Reserved Instance or Savings Plan is sized to the usage you had on the day you signed. If that usage falls, you keep paying for capacity you no longer run until the term ends.

RightSpend covers your usage with a ladder of short-dated discount rungs instead of one long commitment. When usage falls, rungs expire and aren’t replaced, so coverage follows your usage down.

If you leave, the rungs expire and you’re back on on-demand, with no stranded commitment.

How RightSpend works with CloudFix

Your AWS bill is usage multiplied by rate. CloudFix and RightSpend each fix one side of it.

  • CloudFix fixes usage: what you run. It finds waste such as gp2 volumes, idle resources and oversized instances, and fixes what you approve.
  • RightSpend fixes the rate: what you pay per hour for the EC2 you keep. It moves on-demand EC2 spend onto discounted rates without a long-term commitment.

Fix usage first, then discount what’s left, and you never lock a discount onto capacity you were about to remove.

The two work together. RightSpend doesn’t lock you into particular instance types or families, so when CloudFix recommends resizing an instance, or dropping it altogether, RightSpend drops that coverage to make room. Cutting usage never strands a commitment.

Who it’s for

RightSpend is built for teams with $25K/month in EC2 spend or more. Below that, the savings may not justify the setup. It works whether you have no commitments today or a portfolio of Reserved Instances and Savings Plans with gaps in its coverage.

Get started

  1. Estimate your savings. Paste three numbers from AWS Cost Explorer into the RightSpend calculator.
  2. Subscribe through AWS Marketplace. Start with a free 30-day trial, billed through your AWS account.
  3. Connect your AWS account. About 5 minutes. Savings typically show up within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to commit to anything?

No. There is no 1-year or 3-year term and no upfront payment. Coverage adjusts every hour as your usage moves up or down.

What happens if I leave?

You stop the subscription. RightSpend stops adding rungs to your ladder, the existing short-dated rungs expire, and that part of your EC2 spend returns to on-demand rates. There is no long-term commitment left behind for you to carry.

What about the Reserved Instances and Savings Plans I already have?

Keep them. RightSpend runs alongside them and covers the on-demand usage they miss. The savings they already give you are not counted as net-new, so they carry no fee.

How is RightSpend billed?

Monthly, through AWS Marketplace, so the charge appears on your AWS bill. The fee is 25% of the net-new savings RightSpend generated that month.

How is this different from buying Reserved Instances myself?

You get discounts of 20–55% off on-demand EC2 without signing a 1- or 3-year commitment, and without sizing that commitment to a guess about future usage.

What’s the minimum EC2 spend?

$25K/month in EC2 spend.
